The
present Rebbe Mh"m shlita (the son-in-law of the previous Rebbe) arrived
in New York on 28 Sivan, 5701, from Nazi-occupied France, after miraculously
escaping from their clutches. The Rebbe immediately began his holy work,
with his office being in 770 on the first floor near the Shul.
Eventually
the Shul became too small for the ever-growing community of Chassidim,
and a larger Shul was built on the basement level. This Shul was soon
too small as well, and was expanded several times through adjacent buildings
until it reached the corner of the block. Most recently in the years 5753
- 5754 the Shul expanded forward towards Eastern Parkway, onto the front
lawn area, and under the sidewalk until the street curb.
May
we merit to see immediately the full revelation of the Rebbe Melech Ha'Moshiach
with the complete and full redemption, and the bringing of this Shul and
all other Shuls to Yerushalayim, to be attached eternally to the Beis
Hamikdash Hashlishi.
